I began learning to play drums much later in life than
perhaps is most common. Probably most people begin
taking lessons as a child or teenager. I began at age 48. I
have been extremely happy with Rick's approach to
teaching drums. First of all, he is just a nice and fun guy,
he has a good attitude, and is an admirable person. And,
since I had actually been playing self-taught for a couple
of years before I began taking lessons with Rick. I am
impressed how he was able to assess my progress to that
point and zero-in on what I needed to work on most.
Rick is excellent at teaching me overall music theory and
essential skills such reading music notation, as well as
helping me with specific songs I am learning to play with
my band.
I am very happy with Rick's flexibility with scheduling and
the fact that he comes to my home for lessons is a
tremendous advantage.
I look forward to my lesson each week, especially since
Rick keeps the learning varied and fun.
